In the Asia Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh, he came out to bat in the second over itself after Anshuman Rath got out to Taskin Ahmed.
Babar Hayat started off his innings quite well and looked in decent touch. Hong Kong needed Hayat to stay in the middle for a longer time and play a big knock, but he was unable to do that and got out in the fifth over.
On the third ball of the 5th over, Babar Hayat danced down the track and smashed the back-of-a-length ball over mid-on for a brilliant maximum. The pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib was furious and disappointed with himself after getting hit for a six, and he bowled a stunning delivery on the next ball to take revenge.
On the fourth ball of the over, the young, aggressive fast bowler bowled a full and straight delivery to Hayat, who gave a charge down the track to play it on the leg side.
However, he completely missed the line due to the late swing, and the ball beat him comprehensively to crash into the stumps. Tanzim Hasan Sakib was absolutely pumped up after getting the wicket of Babar Hayat for 12-ball 14, and he celebrated on the batter’s face before giving him a fiery send-off.

Asia Cup 2025: Whatever happened is in the past, it’s a new day today – Yasim Murtaza
Bangladesh National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match against the Hong Kong National Cricket Team. Speaking at the toss, Yasim Murtaza, Hong Kong Captain, said that they got what they wanted as they were anyway looking forward to batting first.
Yasim Murtaza added that they made a few mistakes in the last match against Afghanistan and would want to avoid those against the Bangla Tigers to improve their performance. He also said that he doesn’t believe in dwelling too much on past results and is focused on the present. He said:
“We would have batted first. We get what we want. There were a few mistakes with our batters, if we don’t repeat them we will get to a big total. We are playing the same team.
“Whatever happened is in the past, it’s a new day today and we are looking forward to it.”
