The Auburn Tigers are adding more depth to their running back room. On Thursday, former Troy running back Tae Meadows signed with the Tigers, per Christian Clemente of 247Sports.
Meadows was the Trojans‘ leading rusher with 695 yards and six touchdowns in 2025. Meadows opened the season with 186 yards and one touchdown in Troy’s 38-20 win over Nicholls State, but would not rush for more than 100 yards in any other game. Troy dealt with offensive line issues and did not meet their potential in the run game. Despite this, Meadows helped lead the Trojans to an appearance in the Sun Belt Championship.

Meadows did not see much playing time during his first two seasons with the Trojans in 2023 and 2024. He had just four carries for 46 yards and one touchdown during those seasons. He was a three-star recruit out of Handley High School in Roanoke, Alabama, when he signed in 2022. As a junior in 2020, Meadows helped lead Handley to the 4A AHSAA State Championship over Gordo by rushing for 264 yards on 38 carries in the win. He was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
Auburn has been busy making sure it will have a talented running back room for the 2026 season. One key development for the Tigers was their ability to retain Jeremiah Cobb. He led the Tigers in rushing in 2025 with 969 yards and five touchdowns. Head coach Alex Golesh was able to add transfer running backs in Bryson Washington (Baylor) and Nykahi Davenport (South Florida). Washington rushed for 1,816 yards and 18 touchdowns over the previous two seasons with Baylor.
Davenport led all South Florida running backs in 2025 with 612 yards and seven touchdowns. Also, the addition of quarterback Byrum Brown will give the Tigers great potential in the running game. Brown rushed for 1,008 yards and 14 touchdowns. Meadows is just the latest talented running back added to the 2026 roster.
