AUBURN — While the end of Auburn basketball‘s loss to Texas A&M was a massive focus, the Tigers also had a notable happening early on against the Aggies.

Filip Jović played just seven minutes in the eventual 90-88 defeat, leaving with 9:22 remaining in the first half and never returning to the court. He was ruled out at halftime, suffering what coach Steven Pearl described as a back injury, though Pearl had no further clarification on the European’s status.

“Filip is a tough kid,” Pearl said postgame. “If he’s not able to come back in the game, then he’s in a little bit of pain.”

On Thursday, Jan. 8, Pearl provided an update on Jović’s status for Auburn‘s upcoming contest against No. 15 Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 10. Here’s what Pearl said about the forward’s status.

Jović went through imagining on his knee and was on crutches Wednesday, Pearl said. He was off of them Thursday, and Pearl added Jović’s knee was structurally intact. The forward is expected to go half-speed through Auburn’s Thursday practice.

“It’s more about pain tolerance at this point to see where he’s at,” Pearl said. “I know Filip’s going to do everything he can to try to be available Saturday.”
