BIRMINGHAM — Auburn basketball‘s 2025-26 season debut was an electric affair, as the Tigers fell 97-95 in overtime to Oklahoma State in an exhibition game Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Boutwell Auditorium.
Caught up in the chaos of the Tigers’ late-staged comeback, however, was a moment that could be significant to the team moving forward.

Mississippi State transfer KeShawn Murphy, who had his first start as a Tiger on Wednesday, exited with 4:23 remaining in regulation. He appeared to injure his left knee, slipping on the court while helping teammate Sebastian Williams-Adams off the floor following a scrap for a rebound.
Murphy was able to walk off the court, but he needed the help of two trainers. He eventually had his left knee put in a brace, which he practiced with throughout the preseason. Soon after, he was strolling the sideline under his own power, joining his teammates in a timeout on at least one occasion.
KeShawn Murphy injury update: What Auburn basketball coach Steven Pearl said
In postgame, Pearl had yet to discuss the injury with his medical staff. Ultimately, he didn’t have much of an update to offer.

“We’ll obviously evaluate him the next couple days and see where he’s at, but I think — I’m not sure,” he said. “I don’t want to comment on it, because I don’t know the severity of it, but hopefully we get back to Auburn and he’s OK.”
