Felix Auger-Aliassime is a 25-year-old who excelled in the third round of the Shanghai Masters, defeating Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-2. In the last few weeks, he has shown the level of dominance we have come to expect from him, and the fact that he has recorded as many as 11 wins in his last 13 appearances speaks volumes for his superiority. It is important to note that the two defeats were against Jannik Sinner, one of the best tennis players in the world.
After the match, he pointed out that he was trying to reach this level and that being so dominant in this match is a big deal for him.
The Canadian feels positive emotions about the future and hopes that the next round can be just as successful.
Currently, the world number 13 wants to reach the very end and possibly win the trophy, but he is aware that a difficult task awaits him, full of expectations and challenges. His next opponent will be Arthur Rinderknech, and a possible victory could have a huge significance for him and further strengthen his confidence.
“I felt like I was playing fast but I was seeing the game slow. It’s weird, you get these type of nights. I’ve been trying to work my way there. To execute it live on a match court at this stage against an opponent like this is different story than a practice. I’m very pleased because to play like this, it means things are coming along nicely.”- he said, as quoted by Tennis Up To Date.
Felix Auger-Aliassime doesn't want to overanalyze: He's motivated to succeed
Looking back at 2022, the young tennis player stressed that he does not want to analyze things too much, but that he feels much more prepared and motivated than he did when he reached his highest career ranking.
“I feel better than my best year in 2022. I don’t want to project myself too far or anything.”
