WNBA champion and Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has officially entered the GOAT conversation after winning her third championship in four seasons. And her boyfriend, NBA star Bam Adebayo, has a lofty comparison for her.
The Miami Heat center recently spoke to the media about what it feels like to watch Wilson win another ring.

“That’s the thing about shared success. You’re blessed to see somebody have that much success, somebody who they compare to Bill Russell and you talk about how much greatness that they have,” Adebayo said.

That’s high praise for the Aces star, and while Adebayo is somewhat biased as her partner, the comparison holds weight.
Russell is arguably the most accomplished player in NBA history with 11 championship rings, five MVP awards and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. He is also the only player in NBA history to have his number retired league-wide.
Wilson isn’t there yet, but she has many years to achieve more honors and is moving in that direction. In the last eight WNBA seasons, she has won three championships and four MVP awards.

Following her latest title-winning season with the Aces, she joined Russell as the only two players ever to win three MVPs and three championships in a four-year span.
Wilson achieved this milestone while averaging 28.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game as she dominated the 2025 WNBA Finals like few players before her.
