Northwest 71, Green 41
In a nonconference contest between two Scioto County opponents Saturday evening, the Northwest Mohawks’ boys basketball program scored a road win against the Green Bobcats’ boys basketball program, taking home a 71-41 triumph Saturday evening.

Aidden Armbrister led Northwest with 18 points while Ethan Crabtree added in 11 points and Parker Wamsley 10 to join Armbrister in double-figures. Brycen Montavon and Jake Brown also chipped in eight and seven points, respectively, for the Mohawks.
Green was led by 12 points from Jacob Sampson as well as 11 from Jonathan Knapp in the contest. Uriah Satterfield finished with nine tallies in the contest.

Notre Dame 45, Oak Hill 40 (GBKB)
In a competitive nonconference bout, the Notre Dame Titans’ girls basketball program edged out the Oak Hill Oaks’ girls basketball program to move to 5-1 for the 2025-26 season as Notre Dame scored a five-point win.

A 16-5 third-quarter run by Notre Dame ultimately helped make the difference as the Lady Titans blew open an 18-all first half tie en route to grabbing the five-point win.
Jaysa Bryant (18 points) and Alayla Soard (16 tallies) combined to go 26-of-34 from the free throw line to help Notre Dame score the victory. Bryant also added in five rebounds, three blocks, three steals and two assists to boot.
Sophie Phillips finished with 10 rebounds and six points to also aid the Lady Titans, who moved to 5-1 in 2025-26 ahead of a key SOC I showdown against Green.

Ironton 64, South Webster 46

In a nonconference contest that was held Saturday evening, the South Webster Jeeps’ boys basketball program fell to the Ironton Tigers’ boys basketball program, 64-46, in a contest that was held at Ironton High School as part of the Ironton Classic.
Hunter Barnard posted a team-high 16 points for South Webster while Brycen McClintic added in 14 points and Easton Large eight for the Jeeps in the setback.
South Webster (5-1) travels to Symmes Valley Tuesday, Dec. 30 for a nonconference contest.
Friday, Dec. 19
Portsmouth 55, Gallia Academy 24 (GBKB)
Behind a balanced scoring effort that saw three players reach double-figures, the Portsmouth Trojans’ girls basketball program was able to claim a 55-24 win over the Gallia Academy Blue Devils’ girls basketball program in a Ohio Valley Conference matchup that was held Friday evening in Gallipolis.

Sienna Allen, who scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half of competition, led Portsmouth in scoring while Hayven Carter added in 11 for the Lady Trojans. KK Mays, who scored six of her 10 points in the fourth quarter of play, also reached double-figures.
Bry Shannon (eight tallies) and Sky Mays (six points) each hit two threes apiece while Keke Woods posted six points herself to help the Lady Trojans move to 5-2 on the season and 4-1 in OVC play. Salem Allen chipped in the final pair of points for Portsmouth.
The Lady Trojans are back in action Tuesday, Dec. 23 with a home contest against Ohio Valley Conference foe Rock Hill (0-5, 0-5 OVC).

Notre Dame 51, Ashland (Ky.) Fairview 35
Behind another big scoring outing from Jaysa Bryant, the Notre Dame Titans’ girls basketball program was able to claim a 51-35 victory over the Fairview Eagles’ girls basketball program Tuesday evening at Fairview High School.
Notre Dame, who led Fairview by a 24-18 margin at the halftime break, broke the contest open in the second half as the Lady Titans outscored the Lady Eagles 24-9 in the third quarter.
Bryant ultimately finished with 27 points and nine rebounds while Sophie Phillips added in 16 points and nine rebounds of her own.
