Belinda Bencic had message for Linda Noskova after routing Czech in Tokyo final

by

Belinda Bencic comforted Linda Noskova after routing the Czech in the Tokyo final as the Swiss tennis star praised the 20-year-old's recent form and also noted that great things were coming for her.

On Sunday, Bencic, 28, and Noskova met for the first time in their career. And the former world No. 4 completed a 6-2 6-3 win after dominating the match from start to finish. The Swiss won four games in a row from 2-2 in the first set to bag the opener, and also went on a three-game run from 3-3 in the second set to get the job done in straight sets.

Bencic, who won Abu Dhabi earlier this year, now has two titles in 2025, and overall 10 titles in her collection.

On the other side, Noskova is now 0-3 in her finals played this year. Earlier this month, the Czech made her maiden WTA 1000 final in Beijing before losing to Amanda Anisimova in three sets. During the summer, the 20-year-old lost to Marie Bouzkova in the Prague title match. Overall, the 20-year-old owns a 1-4 record in her WTA finals – her maiden and lone title came in Monterrey last year.

Bencic to Noskova: You will surely win many titles

“First of all I want to congratulate Linda. You had a great couple of tournaments. You’re a wonderful player. For sure you will win many titles. It was an honor to share the court with you. Congratulations to your team as well," the reigning Tokyo champion told the 20-year-old Czech.

Before winning the WTA tournament in Tokyo, Bencic also became an Olympic gold medalist in the Japanese capital.
