Week 6 of the 2025 Big 12 football season mainly included predictable results. BYU edged a struggling West Virginia team to open the slate on Friday evening, Arizona crushed Oklahoma State, TCU knocked off Colorado and, thanks to an impressive second half, Kansas got a big road win against UCF.
Three games really told the story of the weekend: Texas Tech-Houston, Kansas State–Baylor and Iowa State-Cincinnati.

Texas Tech showed out once again, taking down a solid Houston team on the road. The Red Raiders seem like the team to beat in the Big 12 through six weeks. In an exciting game in Waco, Baylor beat Kansas State 35-34 after the Wildcats missed a potential game-winning field goal. The Bears remain in the hunt with the win.
Cincinnati might have made the most significant statement of the weekend with a home win against an undefeated Iowa State team. The Bearcats had their ground attack humming to the tune of 264 yards and look like a legitimate Big 12 contender.
The Big 12 landscape is becoming clearer after six weeks, with Texas Tech emerging as the overwhelming favorite, and Arizona State, Cincinnati, BYU, Utah and Iowa State forming the conference’s crowded second tier. We will see if one of those teams can close the gap to the Red Raiders in the next few weeks.
Here are our updated Big 12 power rankings after Week 6, following Cincinnati’s win against Iowa State.
