Goldberg became public enemy #1 after he walked out of a private signing with K&S WrestleFest at Big Event NY on November 15th. However, it seems there is more to this story than initially thought.
In a now-deleted Facebook post, a fan told Tom Unger, the promoter of Big Event NY, that Goldberg was a jackass and the rumors about him were true.
“You are a great vendor. Sounds like Goldberg is a jackass. Maybe the rumors were true.”
However, Tom Unger immediately shot down that accusation against Goldberg. Unger explained that Goldberg did nothing wrong. Goldberg signed autographs for fans for five hours and only left because he had a flight to catch.
Unger revealed that Ken, the owner of K&S WrestleFest, took money from fans for autographs even though they never had a contract. Big Event NY had already told K&S that Goldberg would only sign their items if he had extra time after finishing with Tom’s customers.
Tom said Ken was never promised anything and shouldn’t be acting like a victim online. He also said K&S shouldn’t have accepted mail-in orders without knowing if they could actually be completed.
“No, he wasn’t. He signed for the fans for five hours straight. Ken wasn’t guaranteed anything. I told him that if we had time, we would get his items done. He shouldn’t be posting all of this acting like the victim. This was my deal, and my customers come first. He shouldn’t have taken mail orders from all of you without knowing if they would get done.”
Tom was then asked why Goldberg couldn’t stay another hour or two for private signings, saying he wasn’t a big celebrity anymore. He explained that Goldberg wasn’t contracted for extra time, so it wasn’t hard to understand.
“Because that wasn’t what he was contracted for. This isn’t that complicated to understand.”
This comes after WrestleFest claimed that Goldberg came to the event for a private signing with another vendor but then left without doing the signing he owed to K&S. They had all their items ready while he was signing for another vendor.
But when he finished, he got up, said he was done, walked past their table and left. WrestleFest said they were very disappointed and frustrated, and they apologized to everyone.
“Unfortunately Goldberg PRIVATE Signing did not happen. We had all our items laid out ready to sign as Goldberg was doing another Private for another vendor.
After he was done, he got up and said he was done.. He walked out past our stuff, and left..” We are all super disappointed, and frustrated… My apologies to all…”
To make matters even more interesting, WrestleFest actually deleted the original post where they claimed Goldberg walked out on their private signing.
So it’s clear that initially, people were angry and thought Goldberg behaved unprofessionally. But new information from the event promoter tells a different story. Goldberg did everything he was hired to do, signed autographs for hours, and only left because he had a flight to catch.
On the other hand, K&S WrestleFest took money for signings that were never confirmed and later deleted the post where they blamed Goldberg. Because of this, many fans are now changing their minds, and the situation is starting to look better for Goldberg and we hope he doesn’t get involved in such controversies ever again.
