Big games in sectional championships. Vote for high school football top performer

Colton Bellman, East Central: The junior running back ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries and caught a 28-yard pass in East Central’s 35-0 win over Whiteland in Class 5A Sectional 14.

Ty Benton, South Putnam: The junior ran for 251 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries as fourth-ranked South Putnam defeated No. 6 Riverton Parke 29-21 in overtime in Class A Sectional 45.

Mason Biernacki, Penn: The sophomore receiver caught 10 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns, including a 32-yard touchdown pass with 1:48 left to put Penn ahead for good in a 28-24 win over Crown Point in Class 6A Sectional 1.

Evan Clark, Indian Creek: The sophomore quarterback was 10-for-14 passing for 254 yards and five touchdowns (no interceptions) and ran for 75 yards and another score in Indian Creek’s 49-13 win over Scottsburg.

Duncan Combs, Bloomington South: Combs was 18-for-27 passing for 183 yards and three touchdowns (one interception) as Class 5A third-ranked Bloomington South rallied for a 31-28 win over Bloomington North.

Baylor Connor, Westfield: The junior tight end caught the game-winning 4-yard touchdown pass on fourth down in overtime from Aiden Grabowski in Westfield’s 23-20 overtime victory over Carmel. Connor caught three passes for 27 yards and led the Shamrocks in rushing with 67 yards on 15 carries.

Dallas Cornpropst, Center Grove: The junior kicker had an outstanding night for fourth-ranked Center Grove in a 30-27 win over Franklin Central as he went 3-for-3 on field goals from 42, 32 and 34 yards and 3-for-3 on extra points. Cornpropst also averaged 42.6 yards on five punts, including one inside the 10-yard-line.

Jaxon Cripe, Lapel: The junior caught eight passes for 121 yards and one touchdown as No. 3 Lapel jumped out big lead on the way to a 28-15 win over No. 7 Triton Central.

Andrew Davis, New Palestine: The sophomore intercepted the first three passes for his career in No. 1 New Palestine’s 20-15 win over No. 2 Cathedral for the Class 5A Sectional 13 championship. The first interception kept Cathedral from taking the lead midway through the second quarter and the third sealed the win in the fourth quarter. Davis also played a big role on defense with nine tackles.

Lucas Dewey, Martinsville: The senior running back ran for 241 yards and four touchdowns on 37 carries in Martinsville’s 49-35 win over Bedford North Lawrence in the Class 4A Sectional 23 championship.

Lucas Farmer, Cascade: The junior ran for 134 yards and one touchdown on eight carries and added three solo tackles on defense as Class 3A No. 2 Cascade defeated Guerin Catholic 49-21 for the Sectional 29 championship, the Cadets’ first since 1992.

Oscar Frye, Brownsburg: The junior quarterback was an efficient 12-for-16 passing for 190 yards and three touchdowns (no interceptions) and added 44 yards and a TD on seven carries in Class 6A No. 1 Brownsburg’s 53-29 win over Avon for the Sectional 5 title.

Derek Gomez, Concord: The senior had a big game on both side of the ball in Class 5A sixth-ranked Concord’s 34-29 win over Fort Wayne North Side in the Sectional 11 championship. Gomez had 166 rushing yards on nine carries and four catches for 58 yards and 13 tackles on defense.

Landon Hall, Penn: The junior quarterback was 21-for-29 passing for 314 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 32-yard TD pass with 1:48 remaining in Penn’s 28-24 win over Crown Point.

Kasmir Hicks, Decatur Central: The Indiana recruit scored two touchdowns in the second half to lead the Hawks to a 17-14 win in Class 6A Sectional 6. Hicks finished with 90 rushing yards and two TDs and seven receptions for 59 yards.

Chris Hill, Lebanon: The senior quarterback helped Lebanon to its first sectional championship since 1997 as he went 10-for-15 passing for 150 yards and two TDs and ran for 85 yards and a TD on 20 carries.

Will Hegwood, Roncalli: How about the Roncalli defense? The Royals dominated second-ranked Bishop Chatard 26-6 in the Class 4A Sectional 22 championship. Hegwood intercepted a pass and had five solo tackles (six total) to help Roncalli advance to the regional.

Van Krisiloff, Cathedral: The senior kicker and Eastern Michigan commit had a great performance in a 20-15 loss to New Palestine in the Class 5A Sectional 13 championship. Krisiloff drilled field goals of 36 and 42 yards and averaged 46.4 yards on five punts. He had a big impact in a tight game.

Jaydin Rivers, Fort Wayne North: Another big-time performance in a loss. The senior quarterback was 28-for-30 for 285 yards and a TD and ran for 145 yards and two TDs in a 34-29 loss to Concord in Class 5A Sectional 11.

Ryan Thembulembu, Fishers: The senior was a workhorse in a 28-20 win over Hamilton Southeastern for the Class 6A Sectional 4 championship. Thembulembu ran 32 times for 174 yards and three TDs.
