Big Ten basketball power rankings: Michigan claims top spot

by

Notable results shook up the Big Ten basketball landscape this week. Just on Saturday, Dec. 6, No. 1 Purdue fell at home to No. 10 Iowa State, Michigan notched a 41-point win over Rutgers, No. 7 Michigan State fell narrowly at home to No. 4 Duke, No. 14 Illinois won on the road at No. 13 Tennessee and Wisconsin continued its strong form with a 20-point win over Marquette.

Those results, along with the first wave of conference play, helped to solidify the Big Ten hierarchy entering January. The impressive conference boasts four of KenPom’s top 12 teams and 10 of its top 35, led by the dominant Michigan Wolverines.
