Big Ten Women’s Championships Day 1: Michigan Shatters Meet Record in Both Relays
The University of Michigan swam to the lead at the 2026 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Minneapolis.
The Wolverines won both relays on Wednesday, the only two events on the docket for Day 1 at the University of Minnesota.
The first event was the 200-yard medley relay. Michigan’s Bella Sims, Letitia Sim, Brady Kendall and Lexi Greenhawt won the event in 1:33.29, breaking the Big Ten meet record of 1:33.47 set by Ohio State in 2024.
Sims, Hannah Bellard, Stephanie Balduccini and Christey Liang won the 800 free relay in 6:48.02, shattering the meet record the Wolverines set last year (6:52.04).
Wisconsin finished second in the 200 medley relay with Maggie Wanezek, Brooke Corrigan, Hailey Tierney and Abby Wanezek getting to the wall in 1:34.78.
Third place went to Ohio State. Delia Lloyd, Maria Ramos Najji, Carrie Furbee and Rachel Bockrath finished in 1:35.17.
UCLA’s Fay Lustria, Sarah Bennetts, Jada Duncan and Claudia Yovanovich were fourth in 1:35.18.
Indiana was runner-up in the 800 free relay. Liberty Clark, Alex Shackell, Mackenzie Hodges and Grace Hoeper finished in 6:51.11, which also broke the previous Big Ten meet record.
Ohio State was third with Erin Little, Sienna Angove, Rachel Bockrath and Mila Nikaronov finishing in 6:54.93.
USC took fourth with Nicole Maier, Justina Kozan, Claire Tuggle and Dora Molnar getting to the wall in 6:57.59.
