The idea of Stephen Curry finishing his career anywhere other than Golden State once felt unthinkable.
But, the Warriorsβ current trajectory has opened the door to a conversation that once sounded absurd: sending Curry home to Charlotte, according to Bill Simmons.
βAre we at the point where Curry to Charlotte, we should just do it?β Simmons asked on a recent episode of his podcast. βCan the league intervene? I donβt want to upset the fans. I donβt want to trade Steph Curry on Christmas. But he grew up there, his dadβs there, thereβs shots of him on the court as a kid, heβs always joked about ending his career there. I just donβt think this Warriors team has a chance. We just saw Draymond blow up last time. Can we just like do the LaMelo and a bunch of picks and send Curry back to Charlotte, and letβs just go, letβs do this?β

The Charlotte connection has always lingered in the background of Curryβs career.
While born in Cleveland, he grew up in North Carolina during his father Dell Curryβs long stint with the Hornets, a franchise where Dell became a beloved figure and eventual all-time leading scorer.
Simmonsβ guest, ESPN analyst Tim Legler, took the hypothetical even further, focusing on what Curry could mean for Charlotteβs future rather than just its nostalgia.
βThink about what youβre saying now,β Legler said. βYouβre talking about Splash Brothers 2.0 with Curry and Knueppel, like itβs the new version of that.β
