Booker T Admits WWE Jumped the Gun With Travis Scott After Deal Collapse

by

Travis Scott’s WWE crossover dreams ended before ever making it to the ring, and now Booker T is weighing in on why it all collapsed.

Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T broke it down plainly: the expectations were too high, too fast, and the company may have jumped the gun by assuming Travis could follow in the footsteps of other celebrities like Bad Bunny and Logan Paul.

“You know what, man, it just didn’t work out, more than anything. We put so much into having these matches where you see someone like Bad Bunny or Logan Paul go out there and perform at a certain level. Jelly Roll too. But for everyone, things are different.”

Booker didn’t throw shade at Travis directly, but made it clear that not every star is cut out for wrestling’s physical grind—or its commitment demands. He noted it was a “carriage before the horse” kind of situation.

“Travis Scott is a different type of cat, man. He has so much going on. It just didn’t work out. They overthought it more than anything. They put the carriage before the horse, kind of thinking, ‘Oh, it’s going to be a hit like the other ones,’ but it just didn’t work out in the end.”

This all lines up with what Logan Paul already said during his podcast appearance—Scott flaked on WWE the day his in-ring debut was set to be announced.

“I was really excited for him to come into WWE, and we were actually supposed to team up with one other person. It was planned to be a three-on-three match. But on the day it was supposed to be announced, he didn’t show up.”

Logan speculated that Scott may have realized just how tough pro wrestling really is and decided he wasn’t ready to commit.

“My guess is he realized how physically demanding wrestling really is. It’s extremely hard, and it requires a lot of commitment — probably too much for someone who’s a rock star at his level.”

This comes on the heels of Paul Heyman confirming on The Ariel Helwani Show that the deal between WWE and Travis Scott officially collapsed.

“Yeah, it was. It fell apart and we moved forward without it. The whole deal with Travis Scott fell apart. I don’t know if he’s done… Any meeting that I was in that involved Travis Scott, I got along with him fine. Have I heard things? I have. Do I know the accuracy of it? I haven’t heard Travis’ version of it.”

As previously reported, Travis Scott was initially booked for a major SummerSlam match but was pulled after WWE lost patience. Jelly Roll stepped in as a last-minute replacement and got praise for his performance.

Whether or not Travis Scott ever gives wrestling another shot remains to be seen, but for now, WWE is clearly moving on—and names like Booker T aren’t looking back.
