Bracket predictions: What seed is LSU women’s basketball in ESPN’s preseason projection

by

ESPN’s Charlie Creme released his preseason bracketology for women’s basketball’s 2026 NCAA Tournament. LSU is once again among the top four seeds.

The Tigers are one of four teams with a No. 2 seed. They’re located in the Region 4 Sacramento quadrant with a first-round matchup against No. 15-seed Tennessee Tech, which received an automatic qualification as the projected winner of the Ohio Valley Conference championship.

Earning the No. 2 seed means LSU has home court advantage through its first two NCAA Tournament games, just as it had through the last three seasons. Ohio State (No. 7 seed) and SMU (No. 10 seed) are the two other teams playing in Baton Rouge. Should LSU win its first-round game, it would play the winner of the Buckeyes and the Mustangs.

Of the No. 1 seeds, two are from the SEC in Texas and South Carolina. The conference has 10 teams in Creme’s field, third most behind the Big Ten (13) and the ACC (11).

LSU is coming off an Elite Eight run in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Since then, head coach Kim Mulkey retained starting guards Flau’Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams while also adding three transfers and the top-ranked 2025 recruiting class.
