The Rock is famous for a lot of things, including his cheat meals. The Final Boss is known to grace his Instagram followers with photos of his massive plates, but Braun Strowman is no stranger to eating big.
During an appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Braun Strowman gave a detailed look at his extreme diet and eating habits while promoting his new food and travel series, Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman. This was a gig where having a personality and an appetite was all you needed, which was perfect for Braun.
Braun Strowman came from the strongman world, and that called for a calorie-heavy diet. The Monster Among Monsters used to pack on the pounds as he geared up for his next competition.
“At my peak in Strongman, I was consuming probably close to around 20,000 calories a day. My last Strongman competition, at the Arnold Classic in 2013, I weighed 418 pounds.”
“I would eat five double cheeseburgers and drink a 2-liter of soda on my way to the gym to go train—just so I would have the calories to burn.”
The discussion started with a look back at WWE backstage catering. Braun Strowman described the buffet setup and admitted the dessert table was hard to ignore. While grilled chicken was usually available, he preferred steak to the point where he would either bring his own or take one from Vince McMahon or Triple H.
After transitioning to WWE, Braun Strowman adjusted his diet. He didn’t need to carry the same size anymore, but he still required thousands of calories to maintain his frame.
“When I transitioned into WWE, I didn’t need to be quite as big. I still debuted at like 385. Over the years, I changed my diet up to stay ahead of the curve in the entertainment world. Now, it takes me around 7,000 clean calories to maintain my size.”
“That’s six pounds of chicken a day, like 12 to 16 cups of rice. I eat a whole bag of spinach, a dozen eggs, a carton of cottage cheese, a couple of protein shakes, some fruit… It’s a lot of work.”
Filming Everything on the Menu pushed Braun Strowman’s eating to new levels. He explained how he manages the heavy meals required by the show, often training in advance and fasting afterward. In the process, he also mentioned how his meals put The Rock’s to shame.
“I prepare my body depending on what I have to eat on the show. If I know I’m filming and might consume 10,000–20,000 calories in a sitting, I do a crazy workout the night before, fast for 24–36 hours after, then earn my next cheat meal.”
“I make The Rock’s cheat meals look like he’s going to freaking buy a salad.”
Braun Strowman’s life with food has fueled his performances in many ways over the years. Now, he is set to take on a new job where he just needs to eat and have fun. With Everything on the Menu, he brings his appetite to audiences across the country, and he’s loving every moment of it.
Strowman’s new show premieres October 24 on USA Network and follows him across the country as he tries every item on the menu at different restaurants. This should be a fun time, as the USA Network has plugged it many times throughout their programming in recent memory.
