ATLANTA — will be bringing his Gold Glove skills and defensive versatility to the Braves.

The club announced it acquired Dubón from the Astros in exchange for Nick Allen on Wednesday night. The team hasn’t revealed whether the 31-year-old infielder will serve as their everyday shortstop or be used as a utility player. He’s played seven positions across a seven-year Major League career, including 107 games at shortstop and 214 at second base.

Dubón won the American League Gold Glove Award for utility players in 2023 and 2025. He has produced a .677 OPS over the past three seasons for the Astros. But he’s still a definite offensive upgrade in comparison to Allen, who logged a .535 OPS while serving as Atlanta’s primary shortstop much of this past season.

Allen, who is also one of the game’s top defensive infielders, is entering his first year of being arbitration eligible. Dubón made $5 million this past season and will enter his final arb-eligible season.
