Brazil has summoned players from around far and wide for the Rugby World Cup repechage tournament. Set to take place in Dubai, with matches on November 08, 13 and 18, Brazil has complied a superior roster compared to that which faced Paraguay in October.
Os Tupis have the mission and the appetite to qualify for a first-ever Men’s Rugby World Cup. Never before has Brazil made it so far in Men’s Rugby World Cup Qualifiers. Dubai will see Brazil playing against both Namibia and Samoa for the first time. With both being permanent competitors at Rugby World Cups for well more than two decades, Brazilian wins in Dubai would truly write history.
Brazil, Namibia and Samoa will be joined by Belgium. Having toured South America in July 2024, the Diables Noirs / Zwarte Duivels are no strangers to Os Tupis. Brazil completed a win over Belgium in 2024 and also defeated the Rugby World Cup 2027 qualified Hong Kong.
In looking to upset the odds, Brazil has assembled a 30-man roster. Head Coach Josh Reeves, has called-upon players based in Argentina, Italy, England, France, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa and Spain. They comes in part because of the importance of the task at and and also due to the tournament being played inside the player release window.
An additional factor is injuries. Endy Willian Pinheiro and captain Cleber Dias are notably out injured. On the flip side, Moisés Duque is on the roster just weeks after retiring following the home match against Paraguay. The veteran will provide support to the team now captained by Lorenzo Massari Temer.
Players called-up are what make this roster very different to that from the previous one. Players summoned include Carlo Mignot, Théo Bastardie and Caique Segura from French rugby, Matteo Dell’Acqua and Leonel Moreno from Italian rugby, Raphael Hollister from English rugby, Yan Rosetti from Spanish rugby and Devon Muller from South African rugby.
