Bret Hart just fired another shot—and this one’s aimed squarely at Hulk Hogan.
During a live Q&A session in Germersheim, Germany, the WWE Hall of Famer pulled no punches while talking about the men who helped elevate him during his career. But while he gave props to legends like Mr. Perfect and Roddy Piper, Hart made it very clear who didn’t do a damn thing to help others in the business: Hulk Hogan.
Reflecting on the early days of his rise in WWE, Bret showed love to Curt Hennig and Piper for doing what top talent is supposed to do—help others rise.
“Everything for me started with the wrestlers that loved working with me like Mr. Perfect and Roddy Piper, and certain guys wanted to help me and prove to the office and the promotion that I could be a big star. And so I owe a lot to Mr. Perfect. He was the first guy to really go in there and just show everybody how good I was. Curt was one of my favorite guys to ever wrestle. Roddy Piper was probably the second.”
But when it came to Hogan, Bret didn’t sugarcoat a thing. He accused the Hulkster of refusing to pass the torch and sabotaging the next generation in the process.
“When I look back on my career and I look back on wrestling, the industry, and I look back on what Roddy and Mr. Perfect did for me, I can tell you that Hulk Hogan never did that for anybody. He never helped anybody else after his time was being the top guy. He would rather see the company sink than actually come back and help make the next star, which in wrestling—that’s kind of how it always works. The next guy builds the next guy after. It’s like everybody helps each other kind of thing.”
It’s not the first time Bret has called Hogan out, but the timing and bluntness here make it sting even more. With Hogan’s legacy already filled with controversy, Hart’s comments add more fuel to the long-standing narrative that Hogan looked out for number one—and no one else.
Bret Hart continues to be one of the few veterans who doesn’t hold back when it comes to naming names and telling it like it is.
