LSU football saw one of its top defenders, defensive tackle Bernard Gooden, leave the South Carolina game with an injury. It brought a scare to an LSU defensive line already down a key defender with Gabe Reliford done for the year.
But according to Brian Kelly, Gooden shouldn’t miss any time.

“Collarbone, bruised collarbone,” Kelly said, “very sore right now, but clean, no break. So this is a short-term thing. And one where he’ll have to manage the pain relative to how we go through the week.”
Kelly’s comments indicate Gooden will be available when the Tigers travel to face Vanderbilt in Week 8.
Gooden is one of the SEC’s top disruptors on the interior defensive line. According to PFF, his 13 pressures are tied with Cameron Ball and David Stone for the most among SEC defensive tackles.
LSU’s defense has been one of the best in the country, but the Tigers need all hands on deck vs. a Vanderbilt offense that is one of the most productive in the SEC.
