The return of Brooks Koepka caused excitement in the golf community. His first appearance at the Farmers Insurance Open after his return caused an avalanche of reactions.
Although some expected that Koepka might be greeted with reservations, the American golfer was well received, with fans supporting him and chanting positive messages.
The 36-year-old Koepka did not impress in the first round, but the most important thing is that he made the cut and secured a place in next rounds.
The beginning of the tournament was not promising for the experienced golfer, but in the second and third rounds he caught the rhythm and managed to stay in the competition.
After the second round, Koepka pointed out that he played solidly, although he himself thought that he could have been more aggressive.
Nevertheless, he managed to take positives from his first three rounds and was satisfied with the progress.
"I think that was important," Koepka said. "Played really solid today. Drove it a lot better. Putting, I feel like I hit a lot of great putts, they just didn't go in.
I felt like I was all over the lip today. But that's golf [and] kind of [what you get from] Poa greens. Maybe [I was] a touch conservative maybe putting, not as aggressive.
I don't know if those greens were a little bit slower but it felt like it. But that's all right, got two days to figure it out and kind of really see where my game's at, kind of take the reins off and go."
Nervousness before the tournament
In an interview with the media, he spoke openly about his nervousness before the first round, not knowing how he would be received by the crowd and his colleagues.
Realizing that the reactions were positive and that many had forgotten his departure from LIV Golf, Koepka got an additional motive.
The return itself is not simple; it will take some time to understand where his game currently stands, in which segments he needs to improve and what needs to be changed.
Explaining the reasons for leaving LIV, the American golfer emphasized that he wanted to be closer to his family.
While he was previously a dominant figure on the PGA Tour, returning to the prestigious tournament presents a new challenge.
It remains to be seen how much he can show now and whether he will again be a key figure in the strongest tournaments.
