Bryson DeChambeau – one of the current topics in the world of golf.
The 32-year-old golfer has been linked with the possibility of returning to the PGA Tour for several weeks, but not long after, DeChambeau firmly rejected such rumors, saying that he feels he will sign a new contract with LIV Golf and thus continue his career in the controversial league.
LIV Golf leaders decided to change this year’s format, switching to a 72-hole system.
This move could be expected as LIV Golf leaders had special requirements that the league had to fulfill.
Finally, it was confirmed yesterday that LIV Golf gave the green light and that the players were rewarded with points, but the huge problem is that it often only applies to the top 10 players of LIV Golf.
That did not satisfy the fans, nor the leaders of the league. Bryson DeChambeau reacted to the latest information in a press conference, saying that it is difficult to understand what is happening and give an accurate forecast.
“I haven’t been able to digest it fully. I’ve seen what they’re saying is the breakdown of points for the top 10. I have no idea what to think about it now, I’m just digesting it currently,” he said.
“You saw me over there going, ‘okay, alright’, so trying to understand what it all means and how it all shakes out.
“I don’t know [if it’s fair]. I had no idea how they were going to handle it. I didn’t know if we were going to get points. So at least we’re getting points, right?”
OWGR points
The American golfer wasn't sure if he would even be eligible for OWGR points, so he believes there can be some positivity behind it all. It is clear to the fans that he is likely to finish the season in the top 10, which will make his job much easier in the future, so this will not be a big problem for him.
However, this could be a huge setback for his colleagues at LIV Golf, who will suffer serious consequences, and the question is how long they will be loyal to this project.
