The Lions head west to take on the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes (oh boy!). How does the staff see this one playing out?

Penn State can’t buy a win at the moment, while Ohio State appears to be unstoppable. Great combination we have going on here! The only real hope I have is that no one gets hurt, and that the Lions feed Kaytron Allen.

My prediction? To quote a well-known children’s book, it’s going to be a “terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day.”

The last time Penn State rolled into Columbus with an interim head coach, the Nittany Lions Wildcatted their way to an upset victory. While I don’t see history repeating itself this Saturday, I wouldn’t sleep on Terry Smith having an extra week to get settled into his new head coaching role and the revamping of the offense going on behind closed doors. The Buckeyes get the dub, but PSU makes things entertaining for a while.

Hey, we’re at the one game of the year that preseason I predicted to be a loss. Boy, I was dumb. You know what else is dumb? This game being on Fox’s Big Noon. It just means more commercials, more pointless Gus nicknames, and more eyeballs to watch how big of a train wreck Penn State is in 2025.

I don’t see how Penn State can measure up to Ohio State on either side of the ball. The defense can’t stop the run, and the offense is going up against arguably the best defense in the country with its backup quarterback. For the first time in a decade, the Buckeyes completely dismantle us.

It’s hard to believe that not long ago this game was viewed as the college football’s most-anticipated match-up of the regular season. Things sure have changed.
Putting all that aside, this game comes down to a couple simple truths — Ohio State has been the much better team at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and that they will have the easier time moving the ball on Saturday. Even a maximum effort that musters a few turnovers and big plays may only keep it close. Ohio State has the talent on both sides to eventually pull away, even if Penn State manages to keep it close for a while.
