On Thursday, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark met with the media for her exit interview. Among a number of topics, Clark shared what she wants her WNBA legacy to be.

“We are in the biggest moment in WNBA history. There’s no denying that. Everybody knows that. Everybody that’s in a place in power has a true responsibility, and even myself. We have a responsibility to make sure that this game is in a great place going forward with the CBA and caring for our players and building this league to make sure it’s in a great spot for many years to come.

“Because you all know I grew up as a huge fan of this league and I’m going to do everything I can to make this the league that a 5-year-old, a 10-year-old, a 15-year-old, a girl in college is really proud of to come into and to be able to put a WNBA uniform on. That’s what they dream of and then hopefully they can accomplish that goal, because that’s exactly who I was. Really, at the end of the day, I hope that’s what my legacy can be is just how I impacted people to be able to maybe want to be in the WNBA but really just to achieve whatever they want to achieve,” Clark said.

During a key moment in WNBA history, Clark’s voice will carry a lot of weight given her superstardom and value to women’s basketball and to the league. The WNBA is approaching a potential work stoppage as the deadline for a new CBA to be reached is Oct. 31.

Despite playing only 13 games during the 2025 WNBA season due to a series of injuries, the 2024 Rookie of the Year remains one of sport’s biggest stars and her return to the court will be one of the most anticipated items in the 2026 WNBA season.

As Clark works to get her body fully healthy once more, the 6-foot guard shared an update on how her injury recovery is progressing. It’s a pivotal offseason for Clark and for the future of the WNBA.
