Cal Golden Bears Score 2027 Verbal From CIF State Runner-Up Mia Su

NEW COMMIT: The University of California, Berkeley has scored a verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Mia Su, an in-state standout hailing from Sunnyvale, Calif. Su is a breaststroke and IM specialist who is among the top recruits in her class.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so grateful and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at the University of California, Berkeley. I would like to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support throughout this process, along with Coach Kevin and all my coaches at Santa Clara Swim Club for helping me get to where I am today. A special thank you to everyone on the Cal coaching staff who made this possible. I am beyond excited for this amazing opportunity! Go Bears!!”

Su trains year-round with Santa Clara Swim Club. She most recently competed at Juniors West last month where she was the runner-up in the 200 breast with a lifetime best. She also took fifth in the 100 breast with another personal record, as well as 14th in the 400 IM and 19th in the 500 free.

Last summer, Su finaled in four events at Junior Nationals where her highest finish was a third-place showing in the 200m breast. She placed 16th in the 200m breast at the 2025 USA Swimming National Championship last June.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:00.64
  • 200 breast – 2:09.21
  • 400 IM – 4:14.71
  • 200 IM – 2:01.07
  • 500 free – 4:50.40

Currently a junior at Archbishop Mitty High School, Su won the 100 breast and placed fourth in the 200 IM at the 2025 CIF Central Coast Sectional Championship before going on to place second and 14th, respectively, in those events at the CIF State Championsip. Su also finished sixth in the 100 breast at the state meet as a freshman.

Su’s best times would already score in the C-finals of the 100 breast, 200 breast and 400 IM at the ACC Championships.
