In fact, the WNBA even gave Brink a new nickname as she continues to show that she’s one of the best defensive players in the league today.
Brink Keep Blocking the Caitlin Clark-Less Fever
During the Sparks’ 100-91 win over the Indiana Fever on Tuesday, Brink came off the bench and played 16 minutes.
While the 23-year-old forward struggled offensively and failed to score — going 0-of-6 from the field — she made her presence felt on the defensive end with five blocks.

Not only did Brink tie her career-high with the defensive masterclass she showed against a Fever team missing the services of All-Star playmaker Caitlin Clark, but she also made history as the sixth fastest player to reach 40 career blocks.
In the three games she has played since returning from a 13-month layoff due to ACL injury in her rookie season, Brink has averaged 3.0 blocks.
Following her performance, the WNBA couldn’t help but highlight her block party by posting clips of all her swats against the Fever. The league also gave her a fitting nickname along with the post.

“BLOCKING MACHINE,” the WNBA said of Brink on Wednesday. “Last night, Cameron Brink tied her career-high with FIVE blocks in the @la_sparks 100-91 win over the Fever!”
Sparks Have a Player With DPOY Potential in Brink
Before Brink suffered her season-ending ACL injury in 2024, she was one of the best defensive players in the league. In fact, she was neck-and-neck with A’ja Wilson for the most blocks per game.
Brink ended up with 2.3 blocks per game after her season ended, while Wilson finished the campaign with an average of 2.6 blocks.

That being said, there’s no denying that Brink has shown the potential to be a perennial All-Defensive Team member and a DPOY candidate.
As for the WNBA’s nickname, “Blocking Machine” certainly fits.
