The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft after Caitlin Clark, Brink averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in the first 15 games of her rookie season before the injury.
With both business and basketball on the line, Sparks part owner Magic Johnson was thrilled to welcome Brink back to the floor.
“My LA Sparks have won five games in a row and now they’ll have help from star player Cameron Brink!” Johnson wrote on X in typical deadpan fashion. “She will make her sophomore season debut tonight after suffering a season ending injury last year.”

Brink’s Return From Injury Comes at a Good Time for the Sparks
The 6-foot-4 post player returns to a much different Los Angeles team than the one she last played for.
With All-Star free agent pickup Kelsey Plum and her 20.1 points per game leading the way, they have already won three more games in 2025 (11-14) than they did all of last season (8-32).

No team in the WNBA has a better record than the Sparks over their last 10 games (7-3). Their last three wins have all come on the road, including a Rickea Jackson game-winner to beat the defending champions New York Liberty 101-99 on Saturday.

Los Angeles ranks third out of 13 WNBA teams in scoring (85.0 points per game), but the interior defense Brink provides will help solve one of the issues keeping them under .500 — a 12th-ranked scoring defense giving up 87.3 points per game.
However, Brink will have a tough matchup in her first game back against reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, who is averaging 21.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks this season.
What Sports Teams Does Magic Johnson Own?
For the sake of his investment in the team, Johnson will be thrilled that the franchise cornerstone is back for the Sparks. Thanks to his diversified portfolio, he still had plenty of success in the past year while Brink was recovering.

The NBA legend is part of ownership groups of Los Angeles FC (MLS), Washington Spirit (NWSL) and the Washington Commanders (NFL). He is a founding member of the primary ownership group of the Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB), Guggenheim Baseball Management.
A five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers and an Olympic gold medalist, Johnson has also won nine championships as an owner. When Brink gets back to full strength, he will be hoping that she can be a key piece in No. 10.
