Tim Henman has watched Carlos Alcaraz's rise with admiration. The Briton believes the young Spaniard is already rewriting the expectations placed on tennis prodigies.
At 22, the El Palmar native is a proud owner of six Major titles, becoming the second-youngest player to achieve that in the Open era after Bjorn Borg. Carlos has won a Major crown in every season since 2022.
With the latest two in 2025, he knows sits in a group of legends who have collected between six and eight Major trophies. Not bad for someone who turned 22 this May!

Henman mentioned Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander and Jimmy Connors, while forgetting Ivan Lendl. Alcaraz has reached that neighborhood before even reaching his peak years, which sounds scary!
Tim sees Carlos' progress as a reflection of extraordinary development as a competitor and as a person. The Briton likes the Spaniard's maturity, intensity and commitment, with the quality of his tennis already accelerating at a rate rarely witnessed.
With that excellence comes a heavy question – how far can he push the all-time numbers? Alcaraz has always spoken about his ultimate dream of becoming the most accomplished player of all time.

To get there, he will have to win over 20 Major titles, with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic setting the benchmark and sitting alone in the fabled 20-plus Major zone.
Henman acknowledged that the expectations around Carlos and Jannik Sinner are disproportionately high because the bar has been placed in the stratosphere by the Big 3.
However, they have embraced a stellar pace, conquering all eight Major titles in 2024 and 2025. Whether Alcaraz eventually reaches 20 Majors remains unknown, as no one can predict the future.
Still, his trajectory suggests he will remain in that conversation for many years, especially if he maintains his current pace.
"I spent some time with Carlos at the Laver Cup, and I could not have been more impressed with him, not only as a player but as a person. His attitude, energy, and values on and off the court were absolutely first class.

He has really upped his level. You look at how Carlos' game has developed, and it's absolutely phenomenal. In some respects, what Federer, Nadal and Djokovic did winning 20, 22 and 24 Major titles, it's almost made it disproportionate for these other players.
Great players like Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander and Jimmy Connors could not claim more than eight Majors, and Carlos is already at six at such a young age. People are wondering if he will go on and reach 20.
At this stage, it's almost unfair. When I was playing and Pete Sampras got to 14 Majors, I would have bet my bottom dollar that no one would get past him. Three players have already done that, and we will see how many Carlos and Jannik will get," Tim Henman said.
