The Cowboys have decided to go in a different direction after parting ways with their most winningest head coach in program history. Now, OSU could see even more changes to its team as a result.

Can OSU football players enter the transfer portal after Mike Gundy Firing?
According to Next College Student Athlete (NCSA), an NCAA-compliant college athletic recruiting platform, a 30-day window opens for players to enter the transfer portal immediately following a head coach’s departure at their current school.
The rule has already been enforced for other programs this season. UCLA fired head coach DeShaun Foster on Sept. 14, and Virginia Tech fired head coach Brent Pry that same day. Those who transfer will be able to practice but not play for their new team this season.

NCAA redshirt rule
OSU players also have the option to redshirt this season.
The NCAA’s Division I council approved a proposal in 2018 that allows student-athletes to play in four games during their redshirt year while still preserving a year of eligibility. OSU (1-2) has only played three games so far this season.
