A couple of weeks after getting married, the 26-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina cracked the top-20 for the first time in a career. However, the Spaniard is not a happy camper!
Alejandro lost another ATP final, the third of the season and fourth overall following a devastating 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 defeat to Alex de Minaur at the ATP 500 event in Washington after over three hours!
Visibly heartbroken after the match, Davidovich Fokina left a post on Instagram, thanking the fans and admitting he felt like at home. One comforting voice stood out – Carlos Alcaraz, his countryman and friend.
Carlos Alcaraz deixou um comentário da publicação de Alejandro Fokina "Coisas boas então chegando." ❤️🩹 pic.twitter.com/K2P0CSmN0G

The five-time Major winner left a simple but powerful comment: "Good things are coming." The Spaniard had a massive chance to beat his coeval de Minaur and lift his first ATP trophy.
Alejandro squandered a 5-2 advantage and three match points in the decider! The Aussie clinched it in the tie break to celebrate his tenth ATP title and leave Davidovich Fokina in ruins.
Will Alcaraz's words prove prophetic in his countryman's career-best season? Alejandro's dedication and hard work continue to push him into contention and closer to the top.

The ultimate reward has remained elusive, but that should change if he maintains this level and keep his focus in the pivotal moments, which was not often the case in the past.
At 26, time is still on his side. With support like Alcaraz's, the belief remains strong that his moment will come, and rather soon. Alejandro bested Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton in Washington, leaving the event with five top-10 wins under his belt in 2025.
However, he could not provide that one last good shot against de Minaur, missing a notable chance to lift a trophy and having to wait for another opportunity.
