Carlos Carrasco traded to Braves from Yankees

The hobbled Braves added another reinforcement to their rotation on Monday, agreeing to a trade with the Yankees for veteran righty in exchange for a player to be named or cash.

Carrasco was designated for assignment by the Yankees and subsequently optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in early June. The 38-year-old posted a 5.91 ERA in eight outings (six starts) with New York this year and has a 3.27 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) with the RailRiders.

All five starters from the Braves’ Opening Day rotation are on the IL, as Grant Holmes (right elbow inflammation) recently joined Chris Sale (fractured left ribcage), Reynaldo López (right shoulder inflammation), Spencer Schwellenbach (fractured right elbow) and AJ Smith-Shawver (strained right elbow) on the shelf.
