Aryna Sabalenka has been unstoppable at the Australian Open so far.
The world number 1 reached the final at Melbourne Park for the fourth edition in a row and absolutely wants to avenge the surprising loss suffered last year, when she was beaten by Madison Keys when she really seemed one step away from the trophy.
The Belarusian champion has remained focused since the first round this year and it is no coincidence that she qualified for the last act without losing a single set. The tennis player from Minsk also dominated the semifinal against Elina Svitolina, despite the Ukrainian star having impressed up to this point in the tournament and was still undefeated in 2026 before this match.
Sabalenka had no problems against the number 12 seed, raising her level after being down a break at the beginning of the second set and winning five games in a row that made the difference.
Sabalenka is into another AO final
Aryna's last opponent is Elena Rybakina, who prevailed over Jessica Pegula in the second semifinal. The Kazakh tennis player is going through one of the best moments of her career and is ready to surprise everyone on Saturday.
It is not the first time that these two players have faced each other in the Australian Open final, as it is a rematch of the final staged right here in 2023.
In an interview with 'ESPN', former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki commented on Sabalenka's amazing performance against Svitolina: “Sabalenka played some incredible tennis today. She was hitting strong off both wings, forehand, backhand, she was serving big, big returning big, had very few unforced errors. She was great at the net.
There’s really nothing that Svitolina could do. This is the best match that I’ve watched Sabalenka play in this tournament, so far. And if she could play like this in the finals, she’ll be a huge favourite to win the title once more.”
The world number 1 only needs one more win to complete her masterpiece.
