PLATTSBURGH — Castine Properties continued its unblemished season with a 70-59 triumph over Akey Acres in the YMCA Men’s League on Thursday.
Castine Properties again shot out to an early lead and opened up a 20-8 lead in the first six minutes of the game and continued to add to that lead. With four seconds left in the first half, Matt Farbotko completed a traditional three-point play to give CP a 48-21 lead. However, Brady Yando hit one of his four three-pointers from near-half court to cut the lead to 48-24 at the half.

That shot spurred on Akey Acres in the second half, which would make them seem like an entirely different team. Akey Acres fought back to close the final score to 70-59, outscoring Castine Properties 35-22 in the final frame.
Tom Peterson did it all for Akey Acres, scoring over half the team’s points with 32 on the evening as well as a team leading six rebounds. Peterson scored 20 in the second half comeback attempt. Brady Yando added 13 points for Akey Acres, which dropped to 4-2.
For Castine Properties, it was a familiar story with a balanced scoring attack. Matt Farbotko dropped 20 points and added three steals on the night. Chris Castine supplied 17 markers and six boards for CP. Connor Christopherson also made his presence known on both sides of the floor with a game high 10 rebounds and 10 points, all scored in the first half. Nate Parliament and Jamie Davison also chipped in with eight points apiece.
