Celtics get good injury news ahead of Indiana Pacers game

by

BOSTONJaylen Brown will return from a one-game absence when the Celtics face the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.

Brown, who missed Friday’s win against the Toronto Raptors with a non-COVID illness, has been on a tear as of late, averaging 32.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in his last 10 games.

Brown has only missed two games this season — both due to non-COVID illness — and is in the midst of the best season of his career. He is averaging 29.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, shooting 50% from the field and 36.5% from three.

Jordan Walsh remains questionable with a non-COVID illness. Walsh sat out the second half of Friday’s game against the Raptors as he dealt with the illness.

“Jordan was sick today,” Joe Mazzulla told reporters after the win. “He wasn’t supposed to play, but we pushed him to and wanted to see what he could give us. He gave us what he could, so that’s kind of what it was. … He obviously wasn’t at his best, so we just kind of went there in the second half. That’s why he didn’t play.”

The Pacers come to Boston shorthanded

The Pacers, who are 6-22, will be without Tyrese Haliburton (right achilles tendon rupture), Aaron Nesmith (left knee MCL sprain), Ben Sheppard (left calf strain), and Obi Toppin (right foot stress fracture). TJ McConnell is questionable with a sore left knee.

The Celtics will look to build upon a two-game win streak and improve to 18-11. The Celtics have won 7 of their last 10 games and are 9-5 at home. The Pacers, meanwhile, are 1-12 on the road.
