Central selects hall of fame class for 2025

HIGH POINT – Eleven student-athletes and coaches will join the athletic hall of fame at High Point Central next month.

This will be the 12th class of the hall of fame, which will grow to 153 members.

The induction banquet will be Thursday, Feb. 12, at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. Inductees will also be honored the following night during the basketball game against rival TW Andrews.

This year Patty Barnes, Rachel Brown, Leslie Cook, Tony Duncan, Juwan Foggie, Robbie Hall, Brittney Hendley, Alex Martin, Brenda Jo Parrish, Elizabeth Redpath and Tim Ward have been selected.

PATTY BARNES

Barnes (’74) was a multi-sport athlete in the formative years of women’s athletics. She played volleyball, basketball and softball during the days when women participated in GAA β€œplay days” under the guidance of coaches Andrea Cozart and Pat Hester.

RACHEL BROWN

Brown (’15) was a standout swimmer who earned four all-conference awards and Piedmont Triad Conference Swimmer of Year twice. Upon graduation, she was awarded an athletic scholarship to Pitt where she had an outstanding four-year career.

LESLIE COOK

Cook (’02) was an outstanding basketball player under the tutelage of coach Kenny Carter. She earned multiple all-conference, all-region and all-state honors as one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in North Carolina. Cook received a basketball scholarship to Charlotte and later played at High Point University.

TONY COOK

Duncan (’93) was an outstanding multi-sport athlete, excelling in football coach Gary Whitman. He was a multi-time all-Conference and all-Region performer while at High Point Central. He was an exceptional defensive back and is amongst the leaders in NCHSAA history in career interceptions.

JUWAN FOGGIE

Foggie (’14) was a standout a multi-sport athlete, participating in football, basketball and track. He earned multiple all-conference and all-region awards in football and basketball. After graduation, Foggie was awarded a football scholarship to Charlotte, eventually earning second team All-Conference USA. He later played professionally in the NFL and CFL.

ROBBIE HALL

Hall (’99) was a multi-sport athlete who participated in football, basketball, baseball and tennis. He was named all-conference in football and tennis and was named all-county in football his senior season. Hall served in the US Coast Guard before moving back to High Point, where he has coached at various schools.

BRITTNEY HENDLEY

Hendley (’03) was a key member of the girls basketball teams that dominated the 1990s and 2000s under coach Kenny Carter. She earned all-conference, all-county, all-region and all-state. She received a basketball scholarship to UNC Asheville, where she had an outstanding four-year career.

ALEX MARTIN

Martin (’00) was a standout basketball player, earning all-conference, all-county and all-state honors. He is the only player in program history to score 50 points in a single game. Martin later attended Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the basketball team.

BRENDA JO PARRISH

Parrish (’62) was a pioneer for women’s athletics at Central. As a student, she participated in school sponsored β€œsports play days” such as basketball, volleyball and track. Parrish continued her love of sports through officiating softball and coaching various community softball and basketball teams.

ELIZABETH REDPATH

Redpath (’00) was a multi-sport athlete who played basketball and soccer. She was a key member of both programs during some of the school’s most successful times. Redpath was all-conference in basketball and was a leader for Carter’s NCHSAA state championship teams of the early 2000s. She graduated from Davidson and earned her law degree from Emory.

TIM WARD

Ward (’15) was a standout multi-sports performer in baseball, basketball and football. He was all-conference and all-region in football for coach Wayne Jones. Ward received a football scholarship to Old Dominion, where he was a four-year letterman, and later played in the NFL as well as in the XFL, USFL and CFL.
