Chaos Nearly Erupts During Final Faceoffs

by

It all goes down tomorrow night (Sat., Aug. 16, 2025) at UFC 319 LIVE on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois, as UFC middleweight king Dricus du Plessis puts his 185-pound crown on the line against undefeated sensation Khamzat Chimaev.

On Friday evening, the two middleweights came face-to-face for one final staredown at UFC 319’s ceremonial weigh ins (watch HERE).

Given du Plessis’ stranglehold on the middleweight division and Chimaev’s UFC allure, this is undoubtedly one of the biggest fights of the year. Despite successfully defending his UFC middleweight title two-straight times, du Plessis enters Saturday’s main event clash as a betting underdog. It will be up to the champion to prove he is the best 185-pound fighter on the planet and put a stop to Chimaev’s runaway hype train.

Their faceoff at Thursday’s pre-fight press conference (replay HERE) was tense to say the least so fight fans expected a bit of the same during Friday’s final staredown. Things actually amped up during the ceremonial weigh ins as Chimaev had to be held back on stage. Check it out below along with some other key matchups from UFC 319’s PPV main card:

Dricus du Plessis vs. Khamzat Chimaev

Lerone Murphy vs. Aaron Pico

Geoff Neal vs. Carlos Prates

Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page

Tim Elliott vs. Kai Asakura
