Charley Hull finished second at the 2025 AIG Women's Open, held at Royal Porthcawl in Wales. She finished with a total score of -9, two strokes behind the winner Miyu Yamashita, who wowed the crowd with a great performance and her first Major title.
The English golfer, on the other hand, attracted enormous attention, mainly because she collapsed on the golf course just a few weeks earlier, but also because of a back injury.
Nevertheless, the 29-year-old gritted her teeth, showed courage and really impressed everyone present.
The English golfer admitted that some moments could have gone differently, but overall, there is no doubt that this is a significant achievement for her.
The reporters put an accent on the crowd that was with Hull the whole time, and the experienced golfer admitted that such support was a huge wind at the back.
"Oh, it was great. I felt goosebumps when holes that birdie putt on — I can't even remember what hole it was, 14. Yeah, no it was really good.."- she said.
Can Hull be satisfied?
The reporters were not sure how satisfied the 29-year-old was with her performance. Although the second place in one of the Majors is a huge feat, they felt that Hull was not satisfied, aware that she could have reached the trophy.
However, the popular golfer pointed out that this is far from the truth, as she had significantly different goals and expectations before the start of the tournament.
"Listen, coming into this week I didn't think I was going to make the cut. That's the truthful of it. I wasn't hitting it very well. I couldn't prepare as well as I wanted to because I was poorly. I was obviously collapsed three times in the round in Evian, and then still wasn't feeling well until Sunday last week.
So I think I done pretty well, and considering my mindset coming into it, I'm pretty proud of myself.."
