Chase Briscoe trolled Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing after losing a tire during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond this past weekend. On X/Twitter, Briscoe reacted to a fan sharing his dash cam that showed his crew chief, James Small, yelling to the team about Wallace’s loose tire.
“Twice this year I’ve been ripping around the track and James comes over the radio randomly screaming about grabbing the tire, y’all gotta stop pulling into the 19 box when you lose a tire,” Briscoe wrote. During the final stage of the Richmond race, Wallace made a pit stop while running second. After leaving his pit box, Wallace’s left front tire came off, as it was not fully secured.
This led to Briscoe’s team calling in Wallace to reattach the tire. Wallace and Briscoe race for different teams (Briscoe drives for Joe Gibbs Racing), but both drivers are Toyota teammates. The tire fiasco led to Wallace being multiple laps down, and he finished the race in 28th place. Briscoe, who was involved in an accident earlier in this race, finished 13th.

The good news for both drivers is that they are heading to the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, which begin on Aug. 31. Briscoe clinched a spot after winning at Pocono earlier this year. Wallace clinched a spot after winning the Brickyard 400 last month.
“With a team like we have at 23XI, having the right people, having the right sponsors, it takes everybody there at Airspeed to have days and have moments like this,” Wallace said during his post-race press conference at the time. “Yes, there is a certain level of expectation to win, and so for not being able to do it for almost three years, like you really start to doubt yourself and wonder like, is this it? After the contract’s up, is this it? I mean, I’ve still got a couple years left, but hopefully this gives me another year at least.”
Before Chase Briscoe and Bubba Wallace can battle for a NASCAR Cup Series title, they will join the rest of the drivers at Daytona International Speedway for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday, Aug. 23, for the regular season finale. The race will start at 7:30 p.m. ET and air on NBC.
