Texas will travel to Columbus to face Ohio State on Aug. 30. This particular matchup presents no shortage of intriguing storylines including quarterback phenom Arch Manning’s debut as the full-time starter for the Longhorns, ESPN’s College GameDay in attendance for Lee Corso’s final broadcast, a rematch of the College Football Playoff semifinal last year, and both teams are expected to be ranked within the top three of the initial AP Poll.

Due to the hype and storylines surrounding this game, fans are having to pay a hefty sum of money to attend. On Friday, On Texas Football revealed that the entry level ticket price for Texas vs. Ohio State currently sits at $400 per ticket.

While it’s certainly a massive matchup on paper, it shouldn’t have major College Football Playoff implications for the loser. Teams should be rewarded for scheduling tough nonconference matchups.
Fortunately for the Longhorns, they’ve had success with tough nonconference road games over the last two years. In 2023, Texas went into Tuscaloosa and defeated Alabama 34-24. Last season, the Longhorns faced Michigan in Ann Arbor and defeated the Wolverines 31-12.
