Chelsea Green is spilling the real story behind Junk or Jackpot β and it all started over a casual dinner with John Cena and his wife Shay Shariatzadeh.
During her appearance on TMZβs Inside the Ring, Green opened up about her close friendship with Cena and how their off-camera hangouts are far more relaxed than fans might imagine. She explained that when they all get together, itβs less wrestling talk and more real-life connection β and sometimes, those wine-fueled nights lead to unexpected creativity.
βOkay, so itβs funny because someone was just asking me about coworkers and what you talk aboutβ¦ Like John and my coworkers β weβre just normal people that work together that, when we leave work, we donβt want to talk about work. We just talk about everything else. We talk about family life, our plans for the future, holidays, all sorts of things.β
But Cenaβs intense work ethic is never fully off. Green admitted that his projects still find their way into the conversation β and one of those ideas sparked during a dinner.
βObviously, itβs a little different with John Cena because heβs quite possibly the busiest person in the world, so projects come up a lot and stuff like that. But he just has a new show coming out called Junk or something.β
As the hosts and Green laughed trying to remember the full name, it hit her β the idea actually came from one of their get-togethers.
βJunk or jackpot? Wait β this was all her idea, dude.β
βThis was from a dinner date night.β
βYes, and he tweeted that the other day actually.β
βThat was a little wine night idea.β
The series, Junk or Jackpot, has yet to premiere, but if Greenβs story is any indication, fans might want to thank a few glasses of wine for its concept. Cena is known for being meticulous and hands-on with his creative projects, but this one may have started with some laughter and a lighthearted debate about what counts as βjunkβ vs. βcollectiblesβ β a jab at Matt Cardonaβs infamous hoarding tendencies.
βMatt said that his stuff is not junk. Itβs like collectibles. You know what I mean?β Chelsea joked.
The idea that WWEβs biggest names are brainstorming content over dinner adds another dimension to how projects like Junk or Jackpot come to life. Itβs not just business β sometimes, itβs personal, fun, and organically born from conversation among friends.
Whether or not Junk or Jackpot becomes a hit, one thingβs clear: when John Cena and Chelsea Green hang out, itβs never boring.
