The Mystics, on the other hand, improved to 13-13, which was thanks in large part to incredible performances from rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen.

Citron went off for a career-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting, two rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in 29 minutes of action. The No. 3 overall pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft caught fire from beyond the arc, too, knocking down five out of her six attempts from deep.

Iriafen also set a new career-high mark in scoring with 22 points on 8-of-14 from the field. The former Stanford and USC star also registered 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals in an eye-catching all-around performance.

Together, Citron and Iriafen were able to make Mystics franchise history by being the only pair of rookies to score at least 20 points in the same game.

Defense Was a Problem for the Sky

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh underscored his team’s lack of defensive effort as one of the most significant factors in Tuesday’s 17-point loss. The rookie coach said that he wasn’t too concerned with how his team played on the offensive end in this one, but that their defense was another issue entirely.

The fact that Citron and Iriafen shot for a combined 62.1% on the evening is a testament to Marsh’s criticism. As a team, the Mystics made 50.7% of their total attempts and shot 41.7% from three-point territory against the Sky, providing further tangible evidence of Chicago’s shortcomings on the defensive end.
