CHICAGO — The Chicago Sky-Indiana Fever matchup at the United Center will have neither of its intended headliners.
Fever star Caitlin Clark, who has been out since July 16 with a right groin injury, was already ruled out for the game. She sought additional opinions on the injury, which determined there was no additional damage and that she avoided serious injury, but there is still no timetable for her return.

Chicago star forward Angel Reese was originally questionable with a back injury, but has since been ruled out about an hour before the game. This is the second straight game Reese will be out, as she also missed Chicago’s game against Seattle on Thursday.
“It doesn’t really change our strategy, I mean, we prepare for Angel when she’s on the floor. We know that she’s the best rebounder in the league, and the way that they utilize her at that point forward position sometimes creates some challenges,” Fever head coach Stephanie White said pregame. “But they also have capable players with size and rebounding ability off the bench. They don’t utilize those players the same way they utilize Angel but nonetheless, they have great size, great ability to crash the glass, and they’re one of the best rebounding teams in the league.”
Sky backup guard Hailey Van Lith is also out on Sunday, and guard Courtney Vandersloot is out for the season after an ACL tear, putting the Sky down to eight available players. The league minimum for players available in a single game is seven.
