History was made in South America on Sunday. Chile competed for the first time in international Women’s competition. The debut went very well for the Chileans; they were 54-0 winners over Peru in an away match played at the Complejo Deportivo Andrés Avelino Cáceres de Villa María del Triunfo in Lima.
Head Coach Eduardo Acosta guided Chile to a comfortable win. Chile outperformed Peru in general play and were more efficient around the park. Daniela Rojas made history by scoring Chile’s first ever points. The 4th minute try was followed by tries to Carla Jorquera, Karcia Wyss, Valeria Vera and Catalina Villarroel for a 32-0 half-time lead.
Villarroel scored twice in the opening half and added a third try in the second to complete a hat-trick. Rojas also added to her first-half try with a second while Camila Igor and Valeria Elguenta both scored tries.
