There’s a new twist in the story behind Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize walking out of AEW Collision before showtime—and it turns out the issue wasn’t really about losing at all.
According to Fightful Select, sources close to the situation revealed that both women were fine with taking the loss to Tay Melo and Anna Jay, but they were upset about being given just three minutes for the match. They apparently asked for more time, but officials told them the timing had already been locked in and couldn’t be changed.
After that discussion, Newell and Alize left the building about an hour before the show started. AEW quickly filled their spot with Hyan and Maya World, who were praised internally for handling the change professionally and delivering on short notice.
Those backstage described AEW officials as caught off guard by how things unfolded, especially since Newell and Alize had only just started appearing for the company. Neither woman is under contract, and both are still working on a per-appearance basis.
Miranda Alize was said to be the more vocal of the two during the dispute and later doubled down online, posting that she had “so much to say” while sharing fan messages demanding more respect for her and Newell. Nixon Newell didn’t issue her own statement but quietly backed the same posts.
Several AEW wrestlers who know and like both women expressed disappointment over how the situation was handled.
Newell, formerly known as Tegan Nox in WWE, was released by the company in November 2024 and has spoken in the past about how hard it’s been to find steady work since. Alize, who built her name during the Sinclair-era Ring of Honor run, has been trying to rebuild her national profile with AEW appearances.
Even though this walkout stemmed from a time dispute rather than refusing to lose, the fallout might still hurt their chances of securing future AEW bookings.
Did Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize make the right call by standing their ground, or did walking out over match timing cost them an opportunity? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
