USA TODAY Sports released its All-America teams this week, and Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods earned national recognition after being voted a second-team All-American by the network’s panel of 25 voters.
The junior lineman adds another honor to a growing résumé that already included first-team All-ACC selections from both the conference and the Associated Press. Woods started all 12 games this season and finished with 40 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, and six quarterback pressures while logging more than 550 defensive snaps. Clemson also found creative ways to use him on offense, where he carried the ball eight times, scored twice, and added 15 rushing yards.

While the raw numbers dipped compared to earlier seasons, Woods remains one of the most highly regarded prospects in college football. He recently declared for the 2026 NFL Draft and is widely viewed as a first-round lock. ESPN’s Field Yates projects him as a potential top-15 selection, with Mel Kiper Jr. ranking Woods as the No. 18 overall prospect and the No. 2 defensive tackle in the class.
A former five-star recruit and top-five national prospect in the 2023 cycle, Woods earned freshman All-America honors in his first season at Clemson. Following his draft declaration, he reflected on his time in Tiger Town.
“Thank you for welcoming a young kid from Alabama with open arms and showing me what it means to be a Tiger,” Woods said. “It has been an honor to wear the paw these last few years, and it will always be a part of me, but the time has finally come.”
