CM Punk is taking his talents from the wrestling ring to the holiday romance scene.
According to Deadline, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion—credited as Phillip Jack Brooks—is stepping into a new role in Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy The Bodyguard. He’ll be joining a star-studded cast led by Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) in a story based on Katherine Center’s bestselling 2022 novel.
Punk is playing “Doghouse,” described as a “physically intimidating member of the security detail” known for his loyalty and humor. It’s a role that leans into his real-life toughness, but adds a cool twist of charm and wit.
The film follows a no-nonsense bodyguard (Meester) assigned to protect an action movie star (Padalecki) from a stalker during the holidays. Things take a rom-com turn when the actor convinces his bodyguard to pose as his girlfriend for a family trip to snowy Montana. Directing the project is Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, with a script by Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith.
Also appearing in the film are Andie MacDowell, country star Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde (My Life with the Walter Boys), and Toby Sandeman.
This isn’t Punk’s first rodeo in Hollywood. He recently voiced Officer Zebroski in Zootopia 2, sharing the screen with Roman Reigns. He also wrapped a recurring role in Syfy’s Revival, and next up is the indie horror flick Night Patrol, hitting theaters January 16, 2026.
With his WWE return in full swing and his acting résumé growing fast, CM Punk is clearly in his prime—whether he’s winning titles or landing Netflix deals.
