COBRA Golf deserves more recognition as a putter company. For years, they have released putters with cutting-edge assistive technologies housed in traditional and unique-to-COBRA putter shapes.
Maybe 2026 is the year public perception changes.
COBRA is releasing two new putter lines. The first one, the new Metal Injection Molding (MIM) putter line, I am going to cover here. The second batch of putters, the 3DP Tour line, I’ll cover in another article.
Although I am separating the new lines to narrow our focus, it is important to combine all of the putters when thinking about COBRA as a putter company.
When you plop all of the putters in a pile, you’ll see the magnitude of what COBRA is bringing to retail this year.
So try to keep your perspective wide as we dig into the details of COBRA MIM putters.
What is Metal Injection Molding?
Injection molding is a process usually associated with manufacturing plastic objects. In that process, liquid plastic is injected into a mold where it then cools to solidify. Overall, it works just like you think does.
For metal injection molding, the process is similar but a bit more complicated. The primary difference is that the metal is not injected into the mold as a molten liquid. Metal at its melting point would be difficult to work with and it would probably be hot enough to melt the injection machine.
Instead of using molten metal, very fine particles of metal are mixed with plastic and that mixture is melted and injected into the mold. The melted plastic carries the fine particles of non-melted metal into place in the mold.
This makes the preliminary product a combination of metal and plastic. Additional heating (sintering) will remove the non-metal elements and results in the finished metal product.
Why would COBRA use this production process? From a design standpoint, the MIM process allows for more complex geometries than can be created with traditional cast metal manufacturing. The resulting putter is also very durable.
From a production standpoint, metal injection molding is a cost-effective manufacturing process that can be easily scaled for mass production.
COBRA MIM’s Assistive Technology: The Pebax
DLT face
The key assistive technology in the new COBRA MIM putter family resides in the new insert. There are two key technological elements in the new insert build, both of which are designed to help you make more putts.
The first technology is one that COBRA has incorporated into their putters for a few cycles now, LA GOLF’s Descending Loft Technology (DLT). This is the face first developed by Sik putters that Bryson DeChambeau made popular.
The face is separated into four distinct sections, each with a different loft. As you move from top to bottom on the face, the lofts descend in one-degree increments from four degrees at the top to one at the bottom.
The idea behind the DLT face is that it normalizes roll by compensating for a stroke that adds or removes loft at impact.
Even if you sometimes add and sometimes remove loft, the DLT face should correct for that.
The second part of the insert technology story is the material itself. For the new MIM putter line, COBRA developed a new recipe for the Pebax polymer face insert. COBRA says this new recipe is firmer and more durable which should improve performance and longevity.
I can attest to the pop that this insert delivers. The ball comes off of the MIM putter face with some hustle!
Additionally, the replacement of the putter’s metal face with polymer repositions mass away from the face. This boosts MOI and should then improve putter stability and forgiveness.

The new COBRA MIM putter line is a mixture of blade and mallet models. Some of the models are available with neck options as well.

Final thoughts on the COBRA MIM putter line
As I mentioned, COBRA deserves more recognition as a putter company. Their manufacturing and assistive technologies are cutting edge. Some of their putter shapes are interpretations of classics but others are COBRA-only designs.
In an industry where new ideas can be scarce, COBRA consistently rolls new ideas into their putters.
I feel more golfers should have COBRA putters in their bags. Perhaps the MIM line’s MSRP of $279 will help with that. With most new putters costing closer to $500, COBRA’s pricing of the MIM line should make them attractive to golfers on a budget.
Golfers who buy one of these putters will quickly realize that they have purchased an inexpensive putter, but definitely not a cheap one.
