Coco Gauff obsessed with hoodies before mom stepped in

by

Coco Gauff showed her character and courage, winning 6:1, 6:0 against Moyuka Uchijima in her first match at the Wuhan Open. Speaking to Tennis365, the 20-year-old American opened up about her passion for fashion, noting that she was a collector of hoodies.

However, her mother was frustrated by this, so she told her that she should stop that habit. Not long after, Coco Gauff stopped doing it as a teenager.

The young American woman is still very young, but compared to her teenage years, she now has somewhat different perspectives on life and fashion.

Gauff admitted that she rarely wears hoodies, but now she has found her own style and enjoys experimenting with fashion. She sees fashion as a way to show herself and express a part of her personality.

“I used to be a hoodie connoisseur. I owned, like, 70-something hoodies,” she said, as quoted by Tennis 365.

“My mom had told me I had to stop buying hoodies and then, I don’t know. I think when I turned, like maybe 17 or 18, I just stopped.

Honestly, now I don’t really grab a hoodie unless I go to the airport. But yeah, I think that was just kind of like I didn’t know what my fashion was going to be. So I feel like I was just conserving myself."

Emotions and clothing needs

Just like any person, Coco Gauff sometimes feels differently and has a different desire to dress. Sometimes she wants to dress feminine, while at other times she needs to put on a tracksuit and get away from everyone.

Coco Gauff said through the media that this is the reason why it is difficult for her to plan her clothes in advance, considering that she does not know how she will feel at that moment.

It seems that this is not only a problem of the famous tennis player, but also of most people – both women and men – who want to show some side of their personality precisely through dressing.
