Cody Rhodes Accepts Dangerous Stipulation That Could Cost Him WWE Title Against Drew McIntyre

Cody Rhodes just made a bold decision that could blow up in his face at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

During the Halloween edition of WWE SmackDown, Cody didn’t just sign the contract to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre—he accepted a major twist that puts the title in serious jeopardy.

SmackDown closed with the contract signing inside the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Instead of a simple pen-to-paper moment, it turned into a tense showdown. Drew McIntyre refused to sign the deal, calling it “lopsided” and reminding everyone that Rhodes could retain the title via disqualification or count-out.

McIntyre stood up to leave, telling SmackDown GM Nick Aldis to “go get one of them” when Aldis threatened to replace him. That’s when Cody stepped in and upped the stakes.

Rhodes told McIntyre that he wanted the match just as badly and agreed to flip the script. “110% fine with that,” Cody said about the new clause. Despite Aldis “strongly advising” against it, Cody added, “I don’t give a damn.” That move locked in the stipulation: Cody will lose the title if he’s disqualified or counted out.

Then came the low blow that sparked chaos: McIntyre brought up Cody’s daughters, saying they’d be happier if their dad were home for Halloween. Cody snapped, charging Drew, but got flattened by a Claymore Kick and sent crashing through a table.
